Sanofi’s Immuno-Oncology (IO) Therapeutic Area based in Vitry-sur-Seine, France, is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Principal Scientist PhD with significant experience in IO, with an emphasis on myeloid cells and macrophages deep biology, as well as knowledge on their associated costimulatory/coinhibitory checkpoints. As an enthusiastic and self-motivated Scientist, you will develop and advance cutting-edge therapeutics by driving scientific innovation, with excellence and rigor. You will work in a dynamic organization, lead transverse project teams, and manage a team of scientists to design and execute in vitro studies supporting progression of new drug candidates in the IO portfolio. You have excellent communication and coordination skills to work effectively with other teams in the multidisciplinary matrix, as well as with internal and external partners. You have a strong background and proven track record of publications in the IO field. Strong experience in immune cells biology, primary cells cultures, immune cells assay techniques, and multi-color flow cytometry is essential.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead transverse projects, define the strategy, planning, coordination of activities, and their execution in alignment with the IO global strategy
  • Lead a team of Research Associates and Scientists: provide hands-on training and guidance, scientific support, and promote their career development
  • Develop and implement new primary cells immuno-assays to reach deep mechanistic understanding of disease pathogenesis and confidence in target rationale
  • Provide scientific expertise and innovative ideas, review data and publications to support analysis of mechanisms and pathways, monitor and provide critical assessment of competitor results
  • Manage transverse relationships with collaborators inside and outside IO to advance projects
  • Seek and monitor external scientific collaborations with academic and industrial partners, overview external opportunities in the IO field
  • Present results internally and externally, and to key stakeholders
  • Provide and promote support for operational procedures according to the Sanofi values, ethics, and security
  • Prepare publications, research, and clinical/regulatory documentation in accordance with the Sanofi quality standards

PROFILE 

Preferred qualifications

  • PhD in immuno-oncology and international post-doc with proven track record of scientific publications
  • 5+ years of experience in transversal/hierarchical management, prior biotech/pharma experience welcome, relevant experience in cancer in vitro and in vivo Immunology, understanding of research and drug development processes, and high level of proficiency with multi-color flow cytometry and mechanistic studies of immune regulation
  • Deep knowledge of myeloid cells biology and myeloid cells-based in vitro assays is required. Knowledge or background on B cells is a plus
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary matrixed teams
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills
  • Flexible, curious, and agile, able to rapidly acquire Scientific and technical notions relative to new projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • English (writing and speaking) required
