Sanofi will establish a major active pharmaceutical ingredient company in Europe. The standalone company headquartered in France will combine Sanofi’s API commercial and development activities with six of its European API production sites, located in five countries (France, Italy, Germany, UK, Hungary) and sales in 80 countries. 

We are looking for a Capex and MRO Procurement Buyer France to support the activities of this future new company (“EuroAPI”).

CONTEXT

In February Sanofi announced its intention to create a major leading European company dedicated to the production and marketing to third parties of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), which are the essential molecules responsible for the beneficial effects used in the composition of any drug. The project consists of creating a standalone company which would combine Sanofi’s API commercial and development activities with six of its European API production sites: Brindisi (Italy), Frankfurt Chemistry (Germany), Haverhill (UK), St Aubin lès Elbeuf (France), Újpest (Hungary) and Vertolaye (France).With increasing medicine shortages that critically impact patient care, the new entity would contribute to supporting and securing API manufacturing as well as supply capacities for Europe and beyond. In Europe, the new API industry champion is expected to help in balancing the industry’s heavy reliance on API sourced from the Asian region.The new company “EUROAPI” would rank as the world's second largest API company with approximately €1 billion in expected sales by 2022. It is expected to include 3,100 skilled employees and to be headquartered in France. A planned IPO on Euronext Paris would be evaluated with a decision expected by 2022, subject to market conditions.Within this context we have to establish a Procurement department with the objective to be independent of Sanofi who will remain the main customer of EUROAPI with for ~50% of the turnover.Performances delivered by Procurement department would have a direct impact on the profitability and sustainability of the EUROAPI.In accordance with our commitments in favour of welcoming and integrating people with disabilities, this contract is open to all.

This position is based in one of our industrial Sites of Saint Aubin lès Elbeuf (76), France and attached to the France Procurement Head.

We encourage a balanced working time between on-site presence and remote work. Candidate can consider living in Paris or Rouen Lyon area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The CapEx and MRO Procurement Manager plays a key role in the EUROAPI Procurement organization

• Reporting to the Site Procurement Head, the CapEx and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) project buyer is accountable for the Procurement performance and deliverables required to plan and execute projects on industrial site. In his role, she/he will part of the engineering project team and will contribute to a network of site procurement managers
• In addition, the CapEx and MRO Procurement Manager is accountable for managing maintenance contracts to ensure supplier performance (HSE, financial, quality) and spend control. Finally, she or he will be part of the Capex and MRO Procurement network in charge of developing adequate and relevant sourcing strategies, cross implementation of these strategies and knowledge sharing
• She or he must be a skilled professional with business acumen and project management skills. While demonstrating strong leadership skills and a transformative mindset, the leader in this role must have a pragmatic execution approach and excellent business partnering capabilities

In this view she or he will capable of

• Securing early involvement of procurement and take an active role in the budgeting estimation process as well as provide recommendation for project delivery models providing a holistic view of benefits or disadvantages
• Defining and execute the Procurement Plan for her/his projects
• Negotiating contracts and follow their execution with suppliers
• Being responsible for meeting overall cost savings and performance targets of her/his projects
• Supporting projects on equipment and construction services to ensure delivery on time and on quality
• Helping maintenance teams to reduce maintenance spends by adequate maintenance contract management
• Finding innovative approaches levering the supplier network to optimize project cost and bringing additional value to the business
• Ensuring the right level of business partnering with project engineering teams and ensure that Procurement fully contributes to strategic CapEx objectives
• Ensuring operational excellence in purchasing (Total Cost of Ownership, Supplier Relationship Management, market analysis, risk management, innovation, CSR, HSE, compliance, quality)
• Scope of work encompasses both French sites: you will have to work on projects and contracts for both sites, Saint Aubin lès Elbeuf (76) and Vertolaye (63), depending the overall workload
• Working cross border to help and share other EUROAPI sites in Europe
• Take ownership of some subcategories of equipment or services for all our sites
• Position is located on our site of Saint Aubin lès Elbeuf (76)

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience with a Master's degree in Engineering or Business or another relevant field
• Solid understanding of either Industrial Procurement or Project engineering Procurement; a combination of both experiences would be ideal
• Knowledge about EPCM and maintenance (Service Level) agreements
• Ability to negotiate complex deals with suppliers
• Proven communication skills
• Data analytics and project management skills
• Proven track-record of managing and delivering against complex projects
• French and English are mandatory, German or Italian would be a plus
