Position: Vice President Research and Development - Mail Related Solutions (Hardware and Software)

Location: Remote

The VP will oversee development of all Mail Related Solutions (MRS) global solutions , driving our continuous transformation towards more intelligent solutions combining hardware and cloud software. The VP of R&D will oversee the multi-million euro MRS R&D budget and the global R&D organization.

This leader will leverage Quadient’s expertise in the design of money-printing devices, within a well-defined compliance mandate, to inspire and support a growing business of SaaS-based, feature-rich solutions complementing the smart hardware portfolio.

Mail Related Solutions is the largest business of Quadient and is gaining market share, in part based on its continued investment in new products and leading R&D capabilities. Quadient's Mail-Related Solutions help over 400,000 businesses worldwide streamline their mail communications. The Quadient Smart solutions integrate intelligent hardware devices with a rich software-based portfolio of associated services.

Position Responsibilities

• Management of development programs integrating Hardware and Software into smart solutions

• Provide thought leadership across the entire organization to promote continuous improvement of technical skills and processes, and secure operations at scale

• Manage and coordinate a multi-site international R&D team (160+ staff in US, UK, France, Eastern Europe, Asia)

• Deliver new hardware products to market with the performance standards, quality standards, sustainability and reliability expected of modern office hardware products

• Deliver new SaaS software products to market efficiently, with agility and at the performance standards and quality standards expected of modern business software

• Support the evolution of existing products and solutions as required based on regulatory requirements, supply chain optimizations and constraints, and customer & service feedback

• Build and maintain an engineering organization that efficiently and naturally integrates hardware, software, and infrastructure expertise at every stage of the development process

• Seamlessly integrate hardware and software solutions into Quadient IT environment, postal infrastructure, and ERP systems

• Manage outsourced design and development partners

• Accountable for project development estimates, costs, and overall R&D budget management

• Ensure the timely release and deployment of new solutions with the proper level of customer-facing quality

• Guarantee compliance with standards defined in each geography by the local Postal authorities and shipping carriers

• Synchronize with the Supply Chain Organization to define global manufacturing and distribution plans and support component evolution and outsourcing as applicable  

• Member of the MRS Global Executive Committee

Position Requirements

• Minimum of 10+ years of related experience

• A passion for transforming new product delivery organizations, whilst delivering outstanding short-term results

• Ready to challenge the status-quo and drive innovative ideas.

• Technical experience with modern hardware and software trends, such as Internet of things, Smart terminals industry (copiers, ATMs….), secure communications among devices, hardware-based and software-based security strategies, inkjet print management, etc.

• Experience in Hardware R&D with a global Supply Chain dimension and in Software R&D (SaaS application (AWS/ Azure), Agile processes)

• Global project/program management proven expertise

• Global architecture (Hardware and Software) including security aspects

• Management of international teams

• Offshored R&D development

• Understands compliance and regulated industries

• Frequent worldwide travel required
