After completing a 104 million euro Series C, Qonto is facing increasingly diverse and complex legal challenges (Tax, Contracts, IT/IP, GDPR, labor law, litigation and pre-litigation, corporate law, banking law, internationalisation of the service, etc.).

As Qonto Legal Counsel, you will have a global overview from a legal standpoint of all aspects of Qonto’s business in France and will be a great help to support the development of Qonto’s business in Italy. You will address all types of legal questions, on contracts and partnerships, banking and insolvency matters, civil and criminal seizures from authorities and creditors, corporate and tax matters, labor law, commercial matters, if needed with the assistance of external counsels. You will work on our 4 jurisdictions: France, Italy, Spain, Germany with a special focus on Italy, our growing market.

You will join the Legal Team, under the supervision of Alexia, our General Counsel, and you will also work closely with the Corporate team (finance, people, compliance).

👩‍💻🧑‍💻As a Legal Counsel at Qonto, you will

  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts in French and English (such as: NDAs, services agreements, commercial and tech partnership agreements, software and licence agreements, PAAS/SAAS, SLAs, etc.): in cooperation with the operational teams, you will review, draft and negotiate various types of commercial contracts, bringing specific expertises in IT/IP law and GDPR issues you will regularly update our General T&Cs and the clients contracts.
  • Assist the business and monitor the civil and criminal seizures in France and abroad, closely follow up the disputes/litigations/claims from creditors and Qonto’s clients.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance with the DPO: You will take part in the implementation and monitoring of GDPR compliance, particularly on the contractual side.
  • Define a legal strategy: You will work with the general counsel in order to eliminate or mitigate risks and manage Qonto’s disputes/litigations in coordination with our Compliance and Internal Control team.
  • Monitor, analyze changes and act: You will have to stay updated on legal and regulatory changes that could impact the business and you will suggest action plans.
  • Prepare and deliver training of operational staff on various subjects (labour law, personal data law, marketing, contract law).
  • Be entrusted with a special mission to focus on the launch of Qonto’s Product in Italy.

Profil recherché

  • Experience: You have 2+ years of experience with relevant experience in a top-tier law firm or as a lawyer in a tech company (start-up/scale up).
  • Academic Background: Degree in French law, admission to French Bar is a prerequisite. You have a Master of French Business Law preferably. Specialization in IT / New Technology Law or Intellectual Property Law and good knowledge of GDPR is a plus.
  • Business-oriented: You are able to put use your legal expertise in perspective with Qonto’s business and always provide recommendations that are business oriented.
  • Communication: You have strong oral and written communications skills and a good sense of diplomacy.
  • Analytical mind & rigorous: You have well-honed organizational and analytical skills to quickly elaborate key findings, form opinions and make decisions.
  • Curious mindset: You are intellectually curious, open-minded, adaptable, fast learner and excited by dynamic startup environment.
  • Mastery: You master encountered legal issues related to digital platforms and GDPR issues.
  • Languages: You are fluent in both French, English and Italian. Mastery of another European language (Spanish, German) is a definite plus.
