The Tech Team:

The tech team develops two main products: Hermes, to allow customers to order and track their transports, and Atlas, to allow Ovrsea to organize them.
Most of the effort is focused on Atlas: it is a revolutionary Transport Management System, which allows us to organize all types of transport worldwide. It is the backbone of OVRSEA, and the freight transport software of tomorrow.

We use modern technologies (Serverless, Typescript, React)
The tech team has the chance to develop an “internal” product: this allows us to iterate much faster (10 deployments per day), to test many things and to have some freedom

The team’s challenges in 2022:

  • Scale our organization: from 15 to 35 people
  • Open international offices (USA, Europe, Asia) and adapt to new challenges
  • Build new products (stock vision, customs management, supplier interface, etc.) and explore new value streams (automatic document reading, etc.)
  • Foster the culture of pedagogy at scale

What is it like being a VP Engineering at OVRSEA?

  • You work hand in hand with the CTO, defining together a strategy to be a state-of-the-art team
  • You will be lead on organization, management, and hiring topics for the tech team.
  • You will work closely with the product team to align tech and product objectives
  • You prepare the team for scale, leveraging our most precious asset: our culture. You structure our organization so that the juniors learn and the seniors grow.
  • You take part in strategic decisions: you bring the tech point of view to the COMEX table
  • Finally, we have the privilege of building a product in a market that is not very digitalized and complex. We are therefore pioneers in the field and the challenge is extremely interesting!

Profil recherché

  • Leadership: You have 8+ years of experience and a proven track record as a tech leader.
  • Management: You managed large teams (20+ people) in structured, international, high-growth companies.
  • Delivery: You work with methods to scale your team efficiently while sustaining stability and performance.
  • Mastery: You drive team performance to build software with the highest quality and the best velocity.
  • Engineering: You can frame the tech strategy and deep dive into design discussions.
  • Languages: You are fluent in English.
