At OpenClassrooms, we hire learning designers to help us innovate and create the foundations of tomorrow's education. Learning designers use their knowledge of educational theory to create career-focused curriculum (learning paths) and engaging step-by-step courses. They help subject matter experts present material in a compelling, well-researched way so students learn a maximum! They also continually improve learning paths and courses to ensure that they’re engaging, accessible and aligned with both job market needs and the latest learning techniques.

Kindly note that this position is a full-time permanent contract.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will:

  • Perform needs analysis to align content with professional requirements and student populations.
  • Co-create and maintain compelling content by working alongside subject matter experts and multimedia learning team members.  
  • Manage several projects at once while ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within quality standards. 
  • Ensure regular maintenance of our paths or courses by analyzing key KPIs, making recommendations and implementing improvements. 
  • Apply your knowledge of educational theory and stay up to date with pedagogical innovations. 

We have two specializations in this role: Learning Program and Learning Content. 

Learning Program specialization: 

  • Design and optimize our skills-driven, project-based learning paths to help students gain the skills they need to succeed in their future careers. 
  • Develop realistic and engaging project content to develop and evaluate job skills as well as support learners at different levels.

Learning Content specialization: 

  • Co-design with subject matter experts high-quality online course content with clear and concrete learning objectives.
  • Implement efficient training techniques to design effective and engaging learning material supporting learners in their skills acquisition.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Experience designing and co-producing learning content or learning programs with subject matter experts. 
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects at once, while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills. 
  • Solid written and oral communication skills. 
  • Fluent-level in French (C1 or C2) and at least intermediate (B2) in English.

 

DESIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

  • Previous experience (2+ years) in instructional design or curriculum design. 
  • Previous experience (2+ years) in project management.

 

REPORTING LINE

Reports to Learning Content Manager, Marion Trigodet, or to the Learning Program Manager, Hayley Thompson, within the Learning Design Team.

 

HIRING PROCESS

The journey starts with an HR phone interview and a meeting with the Hiring Manager.

Then we plan visio meetings with:

  • Learning Design Manager (Content or Program)
  • Learning Designers (peers),
  • Director of Learning Design
  • And a few other people from teams across the organization.

A case study would be sent to you after several conclusive interviews to test your skills.
