Job description

We’re hiring a UX Researcher to help shape the future of mobility at FREE NOW. We are aiming to build a sustainable mobility experience for all of our customers, integrating multiple services onto our platform, so they have tons of choice when it comes to getting around their cities. You will partner with some of our cross-functional teams to lead research efforts on specific topics in this role. You'll be working in an environment that truly understands the value of providing a good experience, and your research will directly impact how we build our products.

As the UX Research team, we seek to improve product value throughout the entire customer experience by understanding the ‘how and why’ of people’s movement. To do this, we provide research insights at every stage of the product life cycle and collaborate with stakeholders across the business.

If you are passionate about the craft and process of building world-class products, you love helping your peers to grow, and you’d geek out on solving real problems for our customers, you’ll fit right in.

This role will work exclusively on the FREE NOW product offering.

If you’d like to, you can work completely remotely (regardless of the COVID-19 situation). We also have offices for our product teams in Hamburg, Berlin & Barcelona, so whether you thrive when surrounded by your peers, or you do your best work home alone, with a pet on your knee, we’ve got you covered. We’d love to hire absolutely everywhere, but right now, we have a few restrictions on where you can be based and the time zone we’d like you to work to, based on where the majority of the team is based. You would be working closely with our teams in Hamburg & Berlin, so we would need you to be able to work from one of the 11 countries where we have a legal entity**

Your responsibilities

Liked what you’ve read so far? Here’s the nitty-gritty of what you’ll get up to if you’re successful...

  • Gathering and prioritising key questions from product, design, engineering, and operation teams and developing hypotheses examining customers’ behaviours, needs, and attitudes.
  • Planning and conducting studies using a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative UX research methods, including surveys, interviews, diary studies and usability studies.
  • Working closely with your UX Research team in our offices in Berlin, Hamburg and Barcelona to create a global, shared understanding.
  • Identifying the why of what we observe, synthesising findings and utilising results from Usage Data and User Surveys. Communicating research results to the appropriate stakeholders in an engaging and actionable manner to amplify their impact on our products.
  • Evangelising tools and best practices to empower product managers, designers and developers to conduct research and mentoring or coaching other user researchers.

Your profile

We’re open to seeing people with all sorts of experience, but you’ll need to have the following to reach the interview stage with us…

  • 3+ years of experience in a UX research role.
  • Experience testing mobile apps and web products, we’ll need you to understand what it takes to deliver a highly local product in European markets.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
  • Experience managing projects involving cross-functional teams.
  • We’ll need you to be comfortable planning, scoping, conducting, analysing and communicating research.
  • You’ll need the ability to think big and understand complex feature sets.
  • You’ll also need to be a strong storyteller and communicator, able to speak fluently and confidently to people at every level of our business.

These things aren’t mandatory, but will put you higher up the CV pile 😉...

  • A sense of humour and a ‘glass half full’ attitude
  • The ability to thrive and find order in ambiguity
  • A strong GIF or emoji game
  • An additional European language

** legal entities: France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Italy, England, Ireland, Poland, Romania & Greece
