The role

DNA Script is looking for a dynamic and talented intern to join the System Integration team, in charge of the development of new DNA synthesis process and instrumentation.

With the improvement of the quality of enzymatically synthesized DNA came the opportunity to go further in the applicative field.

The role will be to participate in the automation and optimization a gene assembly workflow on a liquid handling platform. The candidate’s goal will be to adapt existing gene assembly protocols to the platform, taking advantage of its built-in functionalities, or creating new ones if necessary. Ultimately, this platform will become an easy-to-use, flexible, and intuitive tool to optimize the assembly protocol in an efficient and robust way. The candidate must be handy, autonomous, and rigorous, with a detail-oriented mindset and an appetite for automation.

The position will require a lot of transversal and interdisciplinary communication with the different team members as well as with other teams to implement research protocols into future products.

Responsibilities

Your missions will be:

  • Maintaining and running an automated liquid handler,
  • Writing scripts in order to implement new methods
  • Fully automating existing and new gene assembly protocols on the liquid handling platform
  • Designing experimentations for gene assembly workflow optimization, especially the steps that need specific adaptation for automation
  • Contributing actively to product development
  • Performing in depth analysis of experimental data
  • Regularly writing reports and presenting results across all levels of the company
  • Actively contributing to critical company milestones, with a willingness to work outside immediate area of expertise when required

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • M2 student in biomedical, biotechnology or automation in link with life science
  • First experience in Life science R&D labs or diagnostic developing instrumentation or working on HTS platforms
  • Knowledge in molecular biology and or biotechnology
  • Willingness to work on automated system, such as Hamilton
  • Coding skills (python, VBA )
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and systematic troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent English level
  • Highly motivated and proactive
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable

  • Good French speaking level
  • Experience in molecular biology and in particular working with DNA
  • Advanced coding skills
  • Experience in working with liquid-handling robot
  • Experience in process optimization
