The Data QA team at Contentsquare is focused on the main data pipeline software quality. Quality Engineers (QE) main responsibility is to make sure the different data processing components under test are stretched to the fullest, often beyond its supposed limits, to ensure coherence, stability, and throughput. To make sure this process is scalable and reproducible, the QEs are a lot more than just testers.

As a Data QA manager in the Data Processing Team, your main job will be to lead quality engineers, and own the quality activities in the team. You will be the go-to person for the developers and the Data Processing managers, when it comes to software quality in your product perimeter. You will be the torchbearer for Contentsquare's software quality of data. You will also be working alongside the other members of the Data Team to help develop the existing test automation framework. You will design and formalize the acceptance tests which are required for the validation of the product. In a nutshell, you will be someone who understands the technology really fast, creates a toolset to facilitate automation for the smallest possible task, and strives to make our data 100% trusted.

Responsibilities

- Manage 2-4 quality engineers (Hands-on ~50%)

- Actively contribute and participate to team growth, and support reports on their career path

- Define and own the Global Testing Strategy and Guidelines inside the data processing team: how to test knowing the technical architecture, what and how to automate the end-to-end workflow, ...

- Define QA indicators that reflects our testing coverage

- Report a QA status on a regular basis, and plan how to improve indicators

- Own service disruption action items

- Own the quality process inside the data processing team, implement quality best practices, and improve on the existing testing practices.

- Own the pipeline components documentation and work together with the data engineers to produce and maintain them

- Test the new and existing features automatically by implementing test cases using our automation framework.

- Provide validation and support for other cross-team projects intersecting with your product perimeter.

- Provide feedback to various stakeholders to improve the processes, product, etc by the means of various communication processes and tools.

- Be the Data QA evangelist in the Data Team

- Monitor Industry best practices and trends, and figure out how to improve our process based on these lessons learned

Required

- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Team Leader/Quality Manager.

- Minimum 3 years of previous work experience as a quality engineer in a backend environment.

- Strong technical background in backend architectures

- Strong knowledge in test management practices

- Great communication skills, people person, lead by example, know how to drive people to excellence.

- Proven experience working with CI servers (Jenkins, CircleCI, Travis CI, etc).

Skills

- Comfortable interacting with a variety of stakeholders involved in the projects.

- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and functional stakeholders.

- Strong organizational & management skills, ability to multi-task concurrent projects and help team adhere to deadlines

- Ability to move fast and fail faster.

- Ability to prioritize tasks, follow deadlines, and have a never give up attitude.

- Fluent English.

Preferred

- Comfortable with working in a Unix-like environment.

- At ease with GIT and the command line.

- Previous experience of working with Docker or other containerization technologies.

- Previous experience with developing custom test frameworks.

- Previous knowledge of programming in at least one language.

- Previous usage of BDD and Gherkin syntax.

- Previous experience working with Github Actions.
