An internship at Colonies in the Architecture PRODUCT team is an excellent opportunity for you to develop valuable reflection on the way people use their spaces in the past, now and in the future, and interpret this based on DATA and investigations into physical space guidelines.
The in-house Colonies Architecture PRODUCT team is a vital connection between Colonies experience, expansion everywhere, branding, marketing and operations.
In the product team we guarantee the Colonies product in the physical and digital space, also from an experience point of view and operations. In architecture PRODUCT we focus on the best ways of living in an affordable way for Colonies to implement it to create the best living experiences. We are here to ensure that Colonies maintains its position as a market leader in innovative, financially rewarding and environmentally-conscious real estate development and operations.

Responsibilities

• Research the way people live through data from our tenants
• Design the guidelines and prototypical spaces for the different Colonies LIVING spaces typologies: coliving, studentliving, multi famlily living etc.
• Work with Colonies Everywhere team in order to ensure that Anyone, Anywhere at Anytime could potentially live at Colonies
• Assist in the ongoing creation of intelligent CAD blocks in the elaboration of a smooth process and project efficiency.
• Support in making FF&E catalogues for our different products of living typologies for the Development country Architects to use
• Assist on the first feasibility studies in new market or new concept - proof of Concept (first project in new country or market + New product concept launches (for example the first single family housing we would take care of)
• Investigate and research what different factors implicate on living in different formats
  Work on Usage and flow diagrams, moodboard templates, finishes catalogues

Our ideal candidate has the following technical skills:

• Excellent Autocad 2d skills required
• Excellent Adobe Creative suite skills in the following programs as a minimum: Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Good knowledge of Google Suite (Google sheets as a minimum)
• If you are comfortable using Slack, Github, Notion that is a plus - otherwise we have people who can help you get used to these tools
• Handsketcher is a plus
• 3d modelling in Sketchup is a plus for quick design verifications

Our ideal candidate also ticks these boxes below:

• Quick thinker is a must!
• Outside of the box thinker!
• Degree or ongoing studies in Architecture, Engineering Design or Design/graphic design
• Excellent and vibrant, enthusiastic communication skills
• Excellent written and verbal in English
• Good French writen and verbal
• Self-motivated and results-oriented individual (we do not want to micro manage you, just guide you in the right direction)
• Attention to Detail is a must
• Spacial understanding is a must, you can think in 3d and really imagine how people use spaces
• Efficiency is crucial as we are a fast paced startup
• A passion to discover and work in an inhouse Architecture PRODUCT team in the Real Estate & Residential Operations field (it is very different interning with us rather than for an Architecture firm)
• Fluent in English and French
