Descriptif du poste

AFP is seeking a digital verification journalist with strong digital investigation and precise writing skills to join its Jakarta bureau to report on disinformation in Indonesia.
The role is an exciting opportunity to be a part of AFP’s fast-growing fact-checking network, which has seen it take a leading role in the global fight against disinformation.
The successful applicant will be required to write fact-check reports in English and Bahasa Indonesia about disinformation circulating in the region. From time to time, he/she will also be encouraged to pitch and write stories on misinformation for the wire.
In an ever-changing media environment, the nature of the job could evolve in line with coverage demands and the requirements of an increasingly diverse client base. While the journalist will specialise in fact-checking, duties will also extend to other reporting roles in the bureau depending on the demands of the daily news coverage.

Profil recherché

The position requires an agile journalist who can easily navigate online disinformation and demonstrate expertise in digital verification techniques and tools and a good understanding of major social media platforms — including Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, and encrypted chat apps.
Excellent writing and editing skills, good communication skills, both written and oral are necessary, as an ability to multitask.
He/She will need to show abilities to work in a fast-paced multimedia newsroom and meet tight deadlines.
Other media skills — including in photography, video and graphics — would also be valuable.
Candidates must have excellent English and be fluent in both spoken and written Bahasa Indonesia, while other regional languages would be an asset.
