Our Messaging team provides communication functionalities for our marketplaces. It’s a consolidated and fundamental team of our central services and is organised into three squads, divided by domain.
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Messaging Core Platform squad. All message deliveries, any action taken in the messaging system and any notification, pass through the Messaging Core Platform. The squad is composed of eight skilled Backend Engineers.
What you will do
Support and facilitate the squad being a servant leader: follow the squad members with periodical 1:1 and helping them growing as professional by mentoring and supporting
Champion the “people first” company culture
Participate in creating and setting strategy and organisational level goals for the Squad, aligning with other stakeholders as Product Manager
Responsible for hiring as well as capacity planning
Create and foster an open, sharing and blame-free engineering culture inside the team
Ensure timely and sustainable software deliveries
Manage and maintain project work and deliverables according to roadmaps and milestones set by the squad’s Product Manager
Be a driving force behind adoption of Agile methodologies and tailoring a proper framework for the squad
Ensure up to date technologies and adoption of best practises and trends
Drive and onboard people on try new stuff, fail fast and learn fast

Who you are

More than 5 years of experience in software development in a digital environment
Experience in at least one modern object oriented programming language (preferred Kotlin and Java)
Experience with system design, especially Microservice and Event Driven
Understanding of common best practice patterns (Solid, DDD, BDD, etc)
Ability to effectively solve and arbitrate conflicts both at the technical and personal level
Ability to grow and protect a culture that will encourage engineers to meet their goals and grow their potential and careers
Desirable: Previous Agile experience
