Wakam is looking for a Technical Underwriter to join its Paris office for driving profitable growth and reinventing our Accident & Health products in European Countries by making sure we have necessary analytical insight into our customers.

As an A&H Underwriter, you will:

• Identify, qualify, and develop new production sources
• Work collaboratively with Product and Pricing team and all support functions to implement A&H strategy
• Proactively work with Business Developers and Account Managers to target key partnerships/accounts
• Assess insurance risk, identifying and writing profitable business in line with the overall business objectives
• Jointly with Product and Legal Department, design, draft and review policy wordings ensuring legal compliance, absence of any ambiguity and scope within treaty coverage and company risk appetite
• Review and Update of Company Underwriting Guidelines, focus on the technical elements of the overall portfolio, enabling us to grow at the pace we require, whilst maintaining a profitable book of business
• Jointly with Technical Department, review and analysis of claims activity to support underwriting development, Assist with portfolio review and management
• Conduct technical underwriting audits
• Resolve escalated technical and product queries and referrals within prescribed SLA’s
• Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of emerging trends/technologies/available data within A&H insurance for European market as well as support the development and maintenance of analytical tools, reporting suites, and appropriate feedback/action loops, to enable the efficient and accurate operation of the Pricing & Underwriting Performance Monitoring activities

Qualifications and Experience:

• You have a minimum of 5 years experience working in an underwriting role
• You have a strong experience and knowledge of the A&H Insurance market (ideally French Market)
• You are proficient in Microsoft Office Applications – Word, Excel & Power Point
• You demonstrate an analytical mind with experience of applied underwriting judgment to complement data trends
