Meet your team

You will work as part of a dedicated cross-functional, autonomous platform team together with some of our best engineering in the fields of Android, iOS, QA, frontend and backend. The team is coached by an engineering manager who works in a triangle with product design and product management. The team is responsible for providing a solid product platform that is the foundation of our product engineering.

You will also be part of a so-called Chapter team, which is everyone in your technical discipline, at this stage we are a team of 9 Android engineers.

Your main focus will be on building, maintaining and improving the Android system design, ensuring a great developer experience for all squads. You will directly report to the Engineering Manager of your squad.

What you’ll do

• Drive technological improvements through RFCs or other tools to explain, discuss and align decisions paving the future of our solutions
• Identify ways to improve the architecture and codebases, find solutions to complex problems, and proactively propose paths forward to drive outcomes
• Participate in code reviews, bring it to the next level and help the teams raise the bar in terms of code quality and engineering best practices
• Coach and mentor other engineers in engineering techniques, processes, and new technologies; enable others to succeed
• Introduce new technologies, evaluate and potentially incorporate them into your team’s architecture

The technology you’ll work with

• Kotlin, Coroutines, RxJava, Koin, GraphQL, Jetpack Components (Compose, Navigation, etc.)

What we’re looking for

• Strong knowledge in system architecture and design patterns and able to implement them end to end
• Lead architecture discussions, create technical design documentation and help drive technical decisions within your team
• Be the technical go to person and willingness to coach and mentor other engineers on the team with different seniority levels
• Passionate about crafting simple solutions to complex engineering problems and writing readable, maintainable, well tested code

• Introduction call: a Tech Recruiter will tell you more about Choco, our Tech Org and get to know your work, background, interests and you as a person better.
• Technical interview: During this stage we want to get deeper into your technical knowledge. Next to some technical questions you will work together with another engineer in a pair programming excercise.
• System design & Architecture: Together with our chapter lead backend or one of our lead engineers you will do a system design excercise to test your architectural skills.
• Cultural & Collaboration interview: we will have a chat with you about our culture and checks what can be your non-technical contribution to Choco. Our product managers would like to see how you would collaborate on building the most amazing product for our customers.
