In 2017, Luc de Brabandere, Martin Saive, and Thomas Doutrepont founded Cartoonbase based on a simple observation: faced with increasingly complex challenges, organizations lack clear, inclusive, and engaging tools for thinking and communicating. Their solution draws on an age-old practice that remains largely underutilised: illustration and visual thinking.
Cartoonbase is a creative consultancy that supports organisations in their transformations through visual storytelling and design methodologies. We help our clients clarify complex issues, align visions, and create meaningful experiences.
Cartoonbase’s unique “Two Heads” approach brings together strategic designers with a knack for navigating complexity, and visual designers, who translate ideas and emotions into impactful narratives. As a multidisciplinary and unconventional team—illustrators, writers, graphic designers, videographers, consultants, strategists, and philosophers—we co-create bespoke solutions, from onboarding platforms and change management campaigns to strategic visions, branded content, videos, comics, infographics, social media campaigns, creative workshops, and live drawing sessions.
Today, more than 40 Cartoonbase team members, based in Brussels, Lausanne, and Paris, support organisations worldwide.

Cartoonbase was first launched in 2000, with an imperfect business model (cartoons for organizations) but with the same convictions it upholds today.
The team shares breakfast every Friday (or another weekday depending on your office), enjoys numerous activities together inside and outside of work and holds a full company teambuilding once a year.
Conversation topics are quite varied: foosball tactics, Mario Kart tips, unsolved crimes, arts and literature, cats, Legos, birdwatching, ceramics, outdoor sports, old cartoon stories, gardening, and much more.
