Group Investment and Asset-Liability Management (“GIA”) is the central team of AXA in charge of investments as well as the management of assets and liabilities. The team works in close collaboration with AXA’s worldwide investment teams and top-tier investment managers including AXA IM to deploy capital across various asset classes. 

Overseeing over €600bn of Assets Under Management (“AuM”), GIA is composed of seasoned investment, ALM and data professionals engaged on important themes such as Responsible Investments (financing the transition, reduction of carbon intensity of portfolios, etc.) and the acceleration on alternative assets (Private Equity, Infrastructure Equity, Private Debt, Venture Capital, etc.).

GIA is divided in various teams (c.50 professionals) under the leadership of the Group Chief Investment Officer:

  • Alternatives & Credit Team (“ACT”) in charge of all credit/fixed income/alternatives activities (including investment, research and strategy teams).

  • Group Solution Team in charge of investment solutions implementation and management (derivatives, FX, etc.).

  • Group Asset Liability Management Team (“ALM”) in charge of managing all aspects related to ALM (duration, duration gap, capital charge, etc.).

  • Monitoring & Reporting Team in charge of monitoring all investments across the group and is notably composed of data analysts leveraging both in-house and external solutions to allow the proper steering of investments.

The Alternative Debt practice is overseen by the Head of Alternative Debt who is reporting into the Group Head of Strategic Asset Allocation. Investments in Alternative Debt are evaluated, decided and monitored through a “Center of Expertise” comprised of members of the AXA Group Global Investments ACT team as well as representatives from the investment teams of the local entities.

Main purpose: 

Under the responsibility of the Head of Alternative Debt, in a team of 6 investment professionals led by the Group Head of Strategic Asset Allocation, coordinate the Global Investments activities across all alternative and private debt strategies.
Examples of asset classes covered: CLOs, ABS/MBS (Securitized assets globally), Residential Mortgages, Leveraged Loans, High Yield Bonds, Corporate Mid-Market loans (Direct lending), Senior Financing, and other alternative credit.

Key missions include, under the responsibility of the Head of Alternative Debt:

  • Coordinate the AXA Group Alternative Debt Center of Expertise:

    • definition of the agenda, preparation of meeting materials, 

    • coordination of actions pre & post meetings, 

    • liaison with 

      • AXA group entities: local investment teams in each region/country,

      • Asset managers: inside the Group (AXA IM Alts, AXA IM Prime) and externally (private funds GPs),

    • governance, prioritization.

  • Contribute to defining the group investment strategy and objectives on the above asset class and the target allocations / sub-allocations (incl. IP objectives) in synch with the global IP, target Strategic Asset Allocation and entities’ objectives and constraints.

  • Coordinate and contribute to evaluating new strategies (whether direct with AXA IM Alts or indirect with AXA IM Prime) and coordinate AXA investment committees, relying notably on the due diligence input from Prime and Alts.

  • Monitoring of the deployment of the investment plan on each sub-asset class (capital calls, expected distribution, performance, reporting, guidelines adjustments).

  • Coordinate and contribute to portfolio reviews and specific reviews (with external GPs and/or AXA IM Prime) and risk adjustment actions on the asset class.

  • Contribute to in-depth review of specific transactions (GP-stakes, co-investments, complex or very large deals).

  • Liaison with Group Risk Management and Group Investments governance – including liaison with AXA entities’ local investment committees.

  • Structuring guidance on AXA-level investment vehicles and alignment of interests for AXA entities (fees, liquidity conditions, guidelines, etc.).

  • Ad hoc support to local initiatives.

  • Contribute in any other form to the design and implementation of AXA’s private assets investment strategy.


Requisitos

Technical and professional skills:

  • Experience in private transactions design, structuring and implementation.

  • Knowledge of insurance investment objectives and constraints.

  • Capacity to coordinate due diligence, governance, documentation, and reporting on investments.

  • Blend of analytical (due diligence, etc.) and synthesis (investment committees, etc.) skills.

Managerial & Communication skills:

  • Organization and coordination – coordination of CoE.

  • Ability to find solutions, compromise when needed, deliver on assignments.

  • Efficiency – good balance between deal-based details and overall objectives.

  • Clear and concise writing.

  • Strong relationship management

  • Excellent English skills.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in private asset investments.

  • Experience in investments backing insurance liabilities.
