Aircall is seeking a VP of Engineering to lead our international Engineering Team and make an impact!

You will report directly to our CTO and will be responsible for delivering the technical solutions and implementation of the product roadmap.

You are a strong people manager, passionate about designing and scaling a successful engineering organisation that meets the changing needs of customers and our business. 

The role can be located in London, Paris, or Madrid, with occasional travel to those locations required.

Your mission @ Aircall:

  • Technical and people leadership to establish a world-class engineering organisation across multiple locations in EMEA including France, Spain, UK and India
  • Strategic leadership - You will work closely with our senior leadership team to translate our company vision and strategy into a strategy and vision for the Engineering function
  • Operational Leadership - Partnering with our Engineering Directors and Engineering Managers, you will lead and scale our Engineering organisation, ensuring we have the key roles needed to execute our roadmap
  • Drive organisational change & scaling organisation through: engineering processes, best practices, quality standards, key metrics.
  • Lead technical strategy, ensure that we make the best technical decisions while balancing requirements for reliability and stability with the innovation required for growth
  • Provide coaching through high level management practices to senior leaders in the engineering department. You will foster a culture aligned to our values within Engineering and across the organisation
  • Propose multiple technical or organisational solutions for managing identified risks
  • Accountable for the overall quality of the product we ship and maintaining high SLAs
  • A little about you:

  • 15+ years of Engineering leadership experience in B2B technology companies, particularly SaaS
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role, reporting into CTO, managing a team of 150+ Software Engineers and Quality Assurance Engineers in multiple locations
  • Experience shipping multiple products of high complexity (high-availability and real-time)
  • Experience in building and scaling the engineering department to cope with hyper-growth
  • A passion for people management. You love empowering and developing team members. You have a strong track record of creating team cohesion to enable the team to achieve great things. And you have managed both fully remote and hybrid teams
  • You know how to set up and manage cross-functional engineering teams while consistently keeping them engaged
  • Strong engineering background and knowledge in modern engineering practices (Agile, TDD, DDD, Infra as code, Continuous Delivery, etc.), modern tech stacks and cloud based architecture preferably with AWS
  • Strong track record of collaborating effectively with other senior leaders across the organisation
  • Customer-centric mindset with the ability to translate business problems into technical solutions, balancing short and long term needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both highly technical and non-technical teams
  • A big plus - although not mandatory - if you have experience with UCaaS/CCaaS industry or deep understanding of how phone systems works
