Missions

At Worldia, our BigQuery Cloud Data Warehouse is our single source of truth. It is used daily by many internal users (sales, financial, operations ..) to make decisions, follow success metrics, create smarter software and content. Our Data Platform has been created from scratch around one year ago and is using a modern data stack :

  • GCP : Google BigQuery
  • Python 3 (Pandas or Dask)
  • Airflow 2
  • GitLab CI
  • SQL
  • Metabase, Hubspot, GA4

    As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a key contributor pairing with our current Data Engineer and you will together maintain and improve the data platform. The Data Engineering team’s main missions are:

    • collect and challenge needs from business teams to specify platform requirements
    • create pipelines between systems, ensure data quality, accuracy and freshness 
    • maintain and enrich the data platform code repository
    • provide and maintain the framework to ingest, transform and consolidate data in this data warehouse. Monitor data quality provided to clients closely to avoid regressions and guarantee platform stability
    • create reports and business datasets
    • build an innovation-leading data platform for the future : serve data-driven business processes, Reliable data quality, sustainability (flexible/maintainable) ...

    Some key achievements expected in the first few months from you :

    • Understand the different business needs and vision
    • Manage recurring business requests in full autonomy : requirements understanding, solution design, code delivery, testing, customer training and support
    • Build the data platform team foundations : set-up scrum methodology to provide visibility and predictability on deliveries to customers, organize knowledge and documentations  ...
    • Spread Data Platform awareness to help users becoming fully autonomous

      Lets talk about you

      Your expected technical skill to succeed :

      • Software engineering related skills (advanced skills in programming languages/scripting : Go, Javascript, R, Java, ...) ideally : Python
      • Database architecture (Columnar, Relational database, MPP (redshift, snowflake, teradata, vertica, bigquery)
      • Datawarehousing specificity (OLAP, Dims/Facts, Cubes, ....)
      • Have Used a reporting tool ideally Metabase (Tableau, Looker, Superset, Google Data Studio, ....)
      • Data Quality : Proven exemple of data quality implementation


      Will be appreciated, some background on :

      • APM or Data testing (Datadog, Kibana ...)
      • DevOPS (Gitlab, jenkins)
      • Agility methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
      • Web based application experience (data pipelining from webapp)
      • Machine learning/ AI interest

      • An interview with Manuel, the VP of engineering to create a strong alignment on what we'll be expected from you and help you project yourself within the team - 1 hour
      • A last video-call with our CTO- 30'/1h

      We target a 2-3 week long hiring process.
