The position

Job description

We are looking for someone with knowledge in virology, genetics, and protein biology. Experience in gene therapy vectorology would be appreciated. The candidate needs to be eager to contribute to the development of our AI based technology, and addressing unmet needs in the field of advanced biology and genomics, with a focus on gene and cell therapy.

The core mission

Lead the creation and maintenance of a viral vector platform and collaborate with the datascience team to develop machine learning models for viral and non-viral vector engineering prediction.

At WhiteLab Genomics, you will:

  • Develop methodologies to gather viral vector information from scientific literature, public databases and collaborate with academic and private partners to answer cutting edge biological questions

  • Collaborate with the datascience and computational biology teams to develop text mining and NLP methodologies to automatize the extraction, curation and structuration of vector datasets

  • Be involved in R&D programs in the context of our internal platform development

  • Actively participate in scientific presentations of the company’s innovation at meetings and on different occasion


Preferred experience

Required skills:

  • PhD in Virology or related fields + 2 years of experience

  • Fundamental knowledge of virology and biology

  • Knowledge of protein biology applied to viral capsid & proteins

  • Knowledge of state of the art bioinformatics (protein sequences alignment, NGS analysis etc.) and databases

  • Good practices in structuring and managing large tables of data (Office Excel, LibreOffice Calc etc.)

  • Fluent in English

Bonus skills:

  • Knowledge in gene therapy is a plus

  • Knowledge of Python and R

  • Confident in using packages like Pandas, Scikit-learn, Numpy, Joblib, etc.

  • Neo4j or any other graph database

  • Comfortable in French is a plus
