Job description

Urban Campus continuously seek additional buildings to create new coliving buildings in up-and-coming neighborhoods in European main cities. Through partnerships with real estate investors, buildings can be acquired or let.

The role of the Development Manager is to source these opportunities in main Spanish and Portuguese cities, secure the buildings, negotiate attractive economic and legal terms and support the transformation into operational buildings.

This is a demanding position with significant responsibilities and workload that required strong organization and rigor skills. We therefore look for a highly talented and motivated individual with demonstrable skills in real estate and with high ability with financial aspects, Excel models and dealflow experience. The position is based in Madrid, and would report to Head of Real Estate & Business Development - Iberia.

Here is what will be expected from you, as a Business Development Manager:

Business development

  • Source, identify, negotiate and deliver new real estate projects to be operated as urban campuses in Spain and in Portugal.
  • Build strong relationships with developers, investors, landlords, brokers, municipalities and other real estate professionals.
  • Market Urban Campus and coliving to the real estate community.
  • Execute real estate acquisitions of assets to be redevelopped into Urban Campus coliving residences, in partnership with capital partners.

Real estate opportunities analysis and development

  • Analyze opportunities to evaluate operational, legal and financial viability
  • Review and improve the real estate product
  • Establish business plans, recommend improvements and provide creative solutions to close development deals
  • Supervise negotiations of development agreements (including legal documentation).
  • Lead progress of development deals from identification to hand-over, from first sketches to opening, in collaboration with project management and operations teams

Here are the must: 🎯

  • 3 to 5 years of demonstrable experience in real estate within investment, asset management or development positions. Please note that you will be asked to present and discuss your track record during the interview process (business case might be required). Responsibilities will be adjusted to experience.
  • Analytical and result-driven
  • Rigor, highly organized, resourceful and comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Business school degree or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Complete fluency in Spanish and English. French or Portuguese would be a plus
  • A good mix of common sense and humour!
