We’re looking for a seasoned Commercial Counsel to join our fast-growing UK team of 150 people. You will report directly to our Head of Legal - UK, Eva Camus-Smith, and will work closely with the wider legal team, including the General Counsel, Michael Kefi. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast paced start-up during a period of rapid growth, and to further carve out and help to develop the legal function. The Legal Team’s mission is to provide close support to all teams to seize opportunities and secure the business. 

We play a vital role in the growth of the company which creates apps, algorithms and produces innovation and efficiencies in a highly competitive market. We advise a variety of stakeholders and make magic drafting and negotiating strategic contracts, reviewing operations, launching new countries. Working with us means being smart, creative and humble to find solutions while remaining compliant. As Stuart grows, the Legal Team grows, which means that there is a lot of room for career development! 

What will I be doing?

  • You will be responsible for drafting and negotiating the UK business contracts and agreements. 
  • You will collaborate with teams across the Stuart business to deliver best results, in particular you will be working closely with the commercial team and the compliance team.
  • In addition to this you will develop and deliver internal training sessions for the commercial team. 
  • Develop a framework for future contract and agreement negotiations. 
  • You will provide pragmatic, clear and actionable advice to the business on an array of agreements and you will work to set up the business for success..
  • We would love to meet someone who..

  • Is a UK qualified lawyer, with at least 2 years relevant post qualification experience from a leading law firm or in-house team.
  • While not essential, we envisage that the right candidate will have a degree of in-house experience
  • Has previous experience drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, including but not limited to service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, marketing agreements.
  • Has experience working with commercial and procurement teams. Demonstrates excellent communication skills
  • Has a significant sense of autonomy and is happy to operate with limited supervisionIs open to feedback and an advocate for an accessible, diverse, low-ego approach to work
  • Ideally has experience working in or with technology companies, particularly those in the gig economy space
  • If you have a second language that would be a plus. We’d be particularly keen to hear from applicants speaking French, Spanish or Polish
