The position

Job description

We are creating a new research team within the product organisation. Combining multiple research disciplines,

Research & Insights will be focused on making every decision for Spendesk’s product the best informed possible. The variety of projects is wide and ranges from uncovering strategic insights to supporting of product managers on their operational endeavours.

In a context of creating a new acquisition model through our product (product-led growth) we need advanced insights into our users, customers and prospects to drive this new growth engine in collaboration with other core product, engineering or go-to-market teams.

We’re looking for an experienced profile to lead a team of data analytics and drive research initiatives aimed at answering questions that are most critical to deriving impact for Spendesk, in a compelling and actionable format.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will build synergies with other research disciplines (User Research and Market Research) in the team to increase the impact of your studies.
  • You will also leverage a wider data community composed of analytics engineers, machine learning engineers and data engineers to strengthen our toolset and help improve how the Research & Insights team operates.
  • The role is best suited for a full stack data analyst (from data prep to predictive modelling) who is driven by impact of insights on the business rather than engineering systems.
  • Impact from delivered insights (nature/category will vary from project to project) + Team performance (also linked to impact as well as time to respond to prioritised questions)
  • Who are we looking for?

  • Seniority: 6-7 years in data analytics & 1+ year as a team manager
  • Background in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics would be ideal
  • Experience in managing a (small) team of data analysts
  • Excellent level in SQL and at least one other programming language (Python/R etc.)
  • Experience with statistical modelling
  • Strong communication: can easily explain what they do and why, like to share insights with others, conveys opinions with a positive “strong opinions, weakly held” mentality
  • Great Business-sense, can easily make connections between different topics and picture impact of decisions
  • Product culture experience, has worked with squads, understands product challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to influence product roadmaps and business decisions with data
  • First principle thinker
