Job description

To support our continued growth and success, Quadient have embarked on a major transformation program, transitioning from legacy business operating entities to a global operating model. As part of this transformation, we have created a single Digital organization to deliver optimised global business processes, supported by leading systems and technology. The Digital function is led by the Chief Digital Officer, reporting to the Quadient COMEX (Executive Committee).

The Director of Enterprise Architecture is a new role within Digital. The purpose of the role is to establish and lead an Enterprise Architecture capability within Digital, to support our transition from a largely legacy IT architecture to a more global architecture. Key to the role will be driving increased consistency in our business, data, applications and technology layers. As a demonstration of our ambition, we are currently implementing global Salesforce CRM and Workday HCM solutions, and are embarking on a global ERP implementation, based on Oracle ERP Cloud. Around these core solutions, we have a significant local legacy business application landscape, which we intend to harmonise, thereby driving improved operating synergies and cost reduction.

The Director of Enterprise Architecture sits within our Digital Strategy & Performance sub-function, reporting to the VP of Digital Strategy & Performance.

The ideal candidate will come from an Enterprise Architecture background and be TOGAF certified. They will have designed and implemented a distributed Enterprise Architecture capability (people, process and technology) previously, and have worked with solution architects, data architects, technical architects and other business and digital stakeholders from across the company, to deliver a complete and fit for purpose Enterprise Architecture. The role will have a limited number of direct reports, so a strong influencing style is essential.

Reporting to the Vice President of Digital Strategy and Performance, this role has the following key accountabilities:

  • Establishing a global Enterprise Architecture (EA) capability which as a minimum will include:
  • Developing an EA Framework, including principles and practices, that underpins creation and use of the EA
  • Implementing a global EA operating model that describes the processes for translating business needs into architectural components and solutions, and key responsibilities in creating and managing architecture layers
  • Developing standards, toolkits and approaches to ensure consistency in architecture definition
  • Working with Business Process Owners and Solution / Data / Technical Architects to create, manage and maintain a target EA, ensuring alignment with business needs and Digital strategy. Ensure the EA continues to evolve to meet changing business requirements, and is extended as new requirements arise.

The Enterprise Architect will own the EA

  • Working with Solution / Data / Technical Architects and Program Managers to create and maintain strategic roadmaps
  • Ensuring ongoing awareness of the EA within global Digital teams
  • Supporting Digital project teams where required, to drive ongoing alignment of solutions with the EA
  • Lead software and solution selection activities where required
  • Contributing ideas to enhance the overall effectiveness of the Digital function, by actively proposing improvements and supporting the VP of Digital Strategy & Performance with delivery of relevant activities as required
