ROLE

The VP Product Solutions is an exciting new role in the Product and Technology Department, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer and Head of Product Management, with responsibility for setting the vision and strategy for OpenClassrooms’ product and driving a product and design-thinking mindset across the whole company.

We define the product as ‘skills training’, and so working alongside the VP of Learning, the VP Product and Solutions is responsible for the entire experience we deliver to students, employers, government organizations, mentorship community and internal stakeholders.

The role will lead a function of currently more than 25 practitioners including Product Managers and Solution Managers (PO). The team already embraces most of the best practices such as Discovery, User Research, User tests, Outcome driven and Now Next Later Roadmapping, Agile and Lean, and more.

We’re looking for an amazing individual who is able to lead, influence and empower product teams and inspire a product mindset across a fast-growing international company on a mission to make education accessible.

The right candidate will have an important role in helping the organization deliver its business goals, by creating a product that will drive strong graduation rates, job placement rates and reach our financial and commercial targets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver on our impact and business targets, product by product.

  • Define and communicate an inspiring vision and bold strategy for our product and experience, including orientation, admission, enrollment, student experience, content consumption, accreditation and jury, services, support, and platform.

  • Advocate for and instill a product mindset across the whole organization and empower Product and Solution Managers to drive product discovery and coordinate product delivery across the whole business.

  • Lead the objectives and results setting process for the product organization and creation and ownership of a product roadmap for the company.

  • Be a great line manager and coach to the leaders of Product and Solution Management, and a champion of these disciplines at a senior level.

  • Create a healthy and inclusive product culture that encourages collaboration, rapid experimentation and big thinking, along with effective and efficient delivery.

  • Ensure that user insights, data and commercial mindset are at the heart of all product decision-making.

  • Identify new opportunities and inspire action to grow OpenClassrooms’ impact.

  • Ensure that OpenClassrooms is developing best practice and attracting top talent by growing our reputation as an amazing place to build products that positively impact society.

SKILLS

You are able to:

  • Lead the process to agree and communicate an inspiring product vision effectively within a large complex organization.

  • Translate the company strategy, market and user insights and industry trends to create and communicate effective product strategy and identify new opportunities.

  • Empathize with, influence, persuade and gain the respect of a diverse range of disciplines, people and business functions at a senior level.

  • Quickly interpret and draw insights from a wide range of data, commercial performance and quantitative research to inform decisions.

  • Coach and guide leaders from product management discipline.

  • Create the organizational structure and culture to support collaboration, experimentation, efficient delivery, continuous improvement and inclusion.

  • The ability to demonstrate that you are comfortable within a high growth scaleup and able to lead teams with a fast changing, high pressure environment.

EXPERIENCE

You ideally will have:

  • Multiple years experience in complex product-centric organization(s) leading product and/or solution functions, where customers are at the heart of decision-making.

  • A track record of effectively collaborating to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Experience of applying a product and design-thinking approach to non software products, ideally within education.

  • A reputation as a brilliant product/design operator and thought leader and proven track record of hiring and developing high performing teams.

  • Have been involved in translating products to new markets.

  • If you don’t have experience within education, you will need a passion and appreciation for pedagogy and creating a learning experience that is more than delivering content.

LOCATION

OpenClassrooms is a remote-first organization with offices across the EU, the UK, the US, and headquartered in Paris, France. Most of your peers, team members, and colleagues work remotely, while they can come to the office when they want to. The role could be based anywhere in the EU, the UK, and the US. You will have to travel from time to time to Paris, London, and the US, and to be ready to reasonably accommodate online meetings on European time zones as the majority of our workforce is based in Europe. WHY JOIN US
