The position

Job description

Your mission as part of the Legal team

With a strong legal background, you will build the Legal, Compliance and Risks team (currently a team of 2), to ensure Luko strikes the best risk-reward balance.

You will be the legal expert within Luko, always providing solid analysis of the risks & upsides. As a business partner and a key touchpoint for the regulator, you will support all teams in their development when it comes to legal and compliance matters.

-Define and lead the corporate legal strategy, raise awareness among management and propose actions to secure the business’ development
-Build and manage the compliance and risk functions, to ensure that Luko’s activities are handled safely and risk awareness is spread amongst Lukooms
-Contribute to audits’ management and implementation of compliance programs
-Lead contract management at Luko: support all major contract negotiations, provide guidelines for general contract matters to all Luko staff, centralise documentation and ensure regular reviews, trigger reviews and renegotiations when possible, etc
-Own and centralise counsels’ solicitations
-Lead procedure for any conflictual relationship (client, provider, partner, competitor), including complaints management
-Identify Legal/ market opportunity Luko can seize and be a true business enabler


Preferred experience

Who are you?

Must have

  • Substantial corporate legal expertise, including a good understanding of VC functioning
  • 5+ years of experience in a regulated industry or law firm
  • Strong business focus, with experience leading a similar function preferably in a growth / scaling organisation
  • A driven and resourceful mindset with an ability to lead and implement simple and clear solutions.
  • Compliance knowledge in key matters such as GDPR, DDA, Solvency II
  • Knowledge of regulator expectations and confident handling such processes
  • Comfortable under pressure, with a good risk appetite and pragmatic approach
  • Ability to develop, foster and maintain effective working relationships with many different groups of people within Luko as well as with external partners

Language: English & French mandatory, another language would be appreciated

Nice to have

  • Experience in or related to the Tech/ Startup/ Scaleup scene
  • Understanding of the Insurtech environment
