The position

Job description

The primary objective of Lixo is to put cutting-edge computer vision techniques at the service of the circular economy and waste management. It requires the contribution of experts from many different fields ranging from the hardware design, to the industrialization of processing pipelines, the implementation of tools and APIs, miniaturization of algorithms, etc.

Lixo launched its R&D program aiming at finding scalable techniques in computer vision.

With the present position opening, Lixo is looking to start building its R&D team, to work on the design, implementation, characterization, optimization and maintenance of cutting-edge algorithms.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the research on neural networks
  • Design, implement and optimize Computer vision algorithms and processing pipelines
  • Strengthen research algorithms for operational applications
  • Stay on top of academic innovation and study state of the art of computer vision research,
  • Interact and collaborate with our partner R&D Lab (Ecole Polytechnique’s LIX)
  • Work on protecting innovation through patents, in collaboration with our legal and IP partners

POSITION WITHIN THE TEAM

  • On a day to day basis, R&D engineer will work with the CTO to define priorities and with the rest of the tech team to industrialize R&D findings
  • The R&D engineer will be the first member of the R&D team, so autonomy and responsibility will be expected. In the medium term, the R&D engineer will be in charge of building a whole R&D team (recruitment, targets, etc.)

Preferred experience

Minimum required:

  • PhD degree in deep learning, machine learning, computer vision or other relevant technical field
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in computer vision
  • Programming skills in Python
  • In-depth familiarity with the state of the art in Computer Vision
  • Good inter-personal skills
  • Interest for the subject : environment and industrial services, waste management

Nice to have:

  • Hands on experience with deep learning framework (TensorFlow or PyTorch)
  • Experience in interpretability and explainability in deep learning
  • Experience with developing computer vision pipelines exploited commercially
  • Experience with developing real-time processing pipelines on embedded platforms
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary team and/or in a startup
  • Experience in one or more of the following industries: computational imaging or internet of things

Language skills:

  • English is mandatory, French would be an asset
