Job description

Note: HubSpot content designers focus on user experience and product. They don’t work on content marketing, blogging, social media, or documentation. If you’re interested in a marketing position, please see our open roles.

About you

You manage UX writers, content strategists, information architects, or people with other titles. Regardless, you’re welcome here and you’ll have the opportunity to lead meaningful product content design work that makes a difference to businesses around the world.

But in the past, you’ve been stretched thin across too many products and features—and you’ve been required to stretch your team thin as well. So you’re looking for a new environment and role where you and your team can work deeply, with great focus, and do the best work of your careers.

That’s why, as a content design manager at HubSpot:

  • You’ll have a “seat at the table” from Day 1. Your leaders know what you do, greatly value it, and your peers expect you to have strong opinions.
  • You’ll never have to guess about how to get promoted. We’ll support you with clear expectations and career paths.
  • You’ll be able to work where and how you work best: at home, in the office, or any mix of both.
  • You'll help more than 125,000 customers around the world grow better by guiding teams building the products and ecosystems they need to succeed

We love empathetic, supportive coaches who help their teams learn and grow. And we also love leaders who use their vision to support a large, dynamic organization. We’re deeply investing in content design at HubSpot and have more than tripled the size of the team in the past two years!

About your opportunity

As a content design manager, you’ll coach, grow, and scale the content design team within your product group to solve for our customers and have more impact. Here’s a clear view of what success looks like in this role:

  • Identify the most strategic content design priorities with your team and partners, then set them up for success in realizing them
  • Set your partners and teams up for success by prioritizing the highest-impact content opportunities
  • Use your content design expertise and knowledge of our customers and business to contribute to product strategy and vision
  • Collaborate with leaders in UX, Product Management, Engineering, and Product Analytics to:
    • Influence groups of product teams to solve for our customers’ needs
    • Give teams the clarity and autonomy they need to move faster, better, together
  • Support and empower teams to succeed by:
    • Helping to frame customer problems, guiding how they measure outcomes
    • Developing ICs into more senior roles and grow leads into people managers where it matches their career ambitions
    • Fostering a culture of psychological safety and inclusion
  • Partner with recruiters to continue building a remarkable and diverse content design team

You’ll love this role if you:

  • Can focus on just the most important things rather than being stretched thin across everything
  • Put customers at the center of everything you do
  • Demonstrate experience in delivering successful, intuitive products with measurable customer and business impact
  • Have experience scaling a content design team embedded in a dynamic, high-growth product culture
  • Thrive when collaborating on strategy and vision with partners, leaders, and teams
  • Can balance scope, speed, and quality to reach outcomes
  • Enjoy mentoring, coaching for growth, aligning on goals, and driving accountability at all levels
  • Have experience fostering team health, mission, and purpose
  • Can confidently deliver clear, direct, and actionable feedback—and ask for it in return
  • Share our HEART values and practice growth mindset

One more thing you should know…

There’s a lot of research showing how marginalized groups of people may not apply for jobs unless they meet 100% of the qualifications. We also know that content designers come from many backgrounds with different experiences that might not seem “standard”—and that’s okay! We really value people who bring unique perspectives and add new knowledge to our team.

But you might not feel like you “check all the boxes” as you read this job post. That could be because of impostor syndrome or a confidence gap, especially if you’ve been marginalized or excluded in the past.

We get it. And we feel these things ourselves, too. But we hope you’ll apply anyway because we’ll take great care in working with you.

We know the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates, so please don’t hesitate to apply — we’d love to hear from you.

Important COVID-19 Guidance (For candidates applying to roles in the United States):

Per HubSpot’s policy all employees who wish to work @office or @flex or to visit an office in-person must be fully-vaccinated. At this time, @remote employees are not required to be vaccinated.
