Meet Gorgias, the customer service platform that’s designed for ecommerce merchants, and built to support all the tools in their stack. Our product unifies support over email, live chat, voice, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and SMS in one feed to help our merchants provide exceptional customer experiences at scale on Shopify, BigCommerce, and Magento.

In Gorgias, every incoming support ticket displays customer info such as order and conversation history, giving agents the context they need to provide the fast support customers expect. Plus, support teams can work more efficiently by easily viewing, tagging, and prioritizing every open ticket across all their support channels.

We even process these tickets with our proprietary machine learning algorithms, and can deflect up to a third of repetitive merchant tickets without human interaction, through our Automation Add-on. Everything we do is for our customers, and we’re currently serving over 10,000+ e-commerce merchants, including Steve Madden, Timbuk2, Decathlon, and Sports Illustrated. They love us for our innovative product, our focus on their ecommerce needs, and, of course, our lightning-fast customer service response times.

We raised our $25 million Series B round in December 2020 and our $30 million Series C round this year. In between, we more than doubled in size in every meaningful way: annual recurring revenue, the size of our customer base, and the size of our Gorgias team, for starters. About the Platform Data Team

  • Data for message-based architecture at the center, this team is defining how we shape and transmit events across the whole architecture, 100% data consistency and high-quality events. Shaping the future of our architecture to empower more asynchronous work.
  • Provide common functionality to move data around, for instance feeding Caches and other storages like Elasticsearch, Redis, BigQuery, etc. The goal is to make those self-service for every other team to leverage.
  • In the team, we're big users of Kafka, Debezium, PubSub, Elasticsearch, stream processing frameworks (Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, Apache Beam, Apache Flink).
  • The team is currently composed of 3 Software Engineers in Data, the goal is to hire more and own more areas of the Platform like Search and Dashboards/Analytics (real-time OLAP).
  • This team is NOT: IT data, data governance, batch processing and feeding data warehouses. The team is focused on delivering high-quality data within the product and providing an interface to external stakeholders.
  • What You'll Do

  • Have a vision of architecture and systems design, being able to support the senior ICs in moving our scale and architecture into the right places.
  • Work closely with senior management, product and other managers with the goal to expand our internal Platform and shape our whole architecture, you need to build a good rapport with your peers and bring Platform to them and vice-versa.
  • You'll ensure the Platform vision for the Data Streaming team, events system/storage, OLAP storages, how to shape events and messages, microservices relationships, and more.
  • You'll roughly spend your time 50% on people management and 50% on tech, reviewing architecture/systems designs, understanding other teams problems that Platform can solve and help the team to spec them accordingly.
  • You're expected to manage a team of up to 8 engineers, and help to hire them.
  • Who You Are

  • 2+ years of experience managing a back-end team of engineers working on high-traffic web apps with languages such as Java or Python.
  • Experienced with asynchronous microservices, understands distributed computing and architecture in general.
  • Understands data consistency, CAP theorem, cloud infrastructure, observability, scaling.
  • You are passionate about learning and want to help us learn too. You're a manager who cares about the technical implementation.
  • You care about working on applications that are putting the customer's needs first.
  • You have the drive and focus to get challenging projects over the finish line, and you are comfortable advocating for what you need to do your best work.
