Seismic interpretation in the context of a CO2 storage project, in the Smeaheia area, offshore Norway

Goals:
• Establish a literature analysis on the area to seize the geological and economical context of the project,

• Define a problematic justifying the study,

• Manage and organize 2D and 3D seismic and well data to setup a project in PaleoScan,

• In PaleoScan
o Perform a seismic interpretation (structural and stratigraphic) of the zone of interest in order to create a geological model and understand the processes that governed the sedimentary deposition through time.
o Perform a sequence stratigraphy analysis to apprehend the morphology and lithology of the sedimentary pile.
o Derive series of geologically consistent surfaces from the geological model to map attributes aimed at characterizing the depositional environments in the sedimentary pile, with a specific focus on the stratigraphic interval envisioned for the CO2 storage.
o Use available well log data to corroborate the knowledge derived from the seismic interpretation analysis.
o Use available well log data to perform a simplified Time-to-Depth conversion of the seismic volume(s)
o Propose, in the light of the literature and of the analyses performed in PaleoScanTM, a simplified model for the CO2 injection expounding the relevance of the chosen storage targets (reservoirs).

• At the end of the study, clean up the PaleoScanTM project so that it can be used by Eliis as a marketing material to promote its products (e.g., for demos addressed to potential customers, publication). Produce informative documents (ppt or Word) to be used complementarily with the PaleoScanTM project, gathering synthetical information about the geological context of the studied area, presenting the main results of the study,

• Ideally, value should be added to your work through the realization of a publication in a technical conference review.

• Write up an internship report summarizing the problematic and objectives of your study, the methodology you used to address them and present your observations and results.
