Cafeyn is a digital news streaming platform offering unlimited access to the press. With more than 200 employees in several cities in five countries with headquarters in Paris, the service has been pursuing the same mission since 2006: to offer more than two million users the possibility of reading their favorite newspapers and magazines and discovering a wide range of editorial content in a single application and in several languages. After a launch in May 2020 with TELUS outside of the province, Cafeyn is taking another step towards its ambition to become the essential platform for information distribution with its arrival in Quebec last October and the addition of new Quebec press titles. As such, Cafeyn is once again partnering with TELUS Quebec to support the launch of its service in Quebec. In September 2021, Cafeyn also entered the children content market with the acquisition of Kidjo, the US edu-tainment platform publisher and creator of editorial content, games and stories for children.

Your responsibilities

As Business Development and Partnerships Manager you will help grow business & partnerships for Cafeyn in Canada. Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, you will develop, negotiate and manage partnership agreements that drive business growth and help us achieve our ambitious goals in Canada.

Your missions
  • Be responsible for the strategy for Canada around business and organizational objectives
  • Expand our partner base in Canada and with international clients who have an interest in developing the Canadian market
  • Own the end-to-end sales process from identifying new verticals, researching and developing new leads, pitching, negotiation and closing deals
  • Achieving quarterly and annual sales targets - both your individual sales target and helping the business team to achieve its global goals
  • Think creatively about ways to grow the business including new partners, upselling existing partnerships, increasing brand awareness and finding new revenue streams
  • Nurturing and building relationships with the clients/partners so that they become the brand’s ambassadors
  • Understand the importance of data and using this to improve the business development process and strategic direction
  • Collaborate effectively with Marketing, Editorial, Content, Product, Data and Technical teams to launch new partnershipsManages an employee in Montreal

Who are we looking for?

Cafeyn has strong ambition in the Canadian market. We are looking for an entrepreneurial minded individual with leadership skills to take on more responsibilities and lead the future development of Cafeyn in Canada.

You are at the right place if you have:
  • You have 5+ years of Business Development / Sales experience in B2B2C/B2B
  • Business development and/or strategic partnerships experience with digital streaming services or tech companies, preferably subscription businesses
  • Solid experience and track record in generating outbound leads and pipeline management across multiple sectors
  • Self-starter and excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Proven skills at creating and delivering impactful client presentations
  • Strong knowledge and interest in Canadian magazines and newspapers
  • Knowledge and interest in children content market a plusExcellent written and spoken French and English
  • Required skills: strategist, team player, entrepreneurial style, brand ambassador.
It would be the perfect fit if
  • Experience or knowledge of subscriber economics such as customer acquisition costs, LTV, churn rates, etc
  • Experience working with telcos, digital consumer services and loyalty programs is a plus. Telco and partner network contacts
  • Knowledge of the evolving dynamics of the digital Newspaper and Magazine industry and wider Digital Multimedia subscription sector
