Main Responsibilities
- Lead the day to day running of technical SEO activities on your accounts, managing your team, supporting your clients and maintaining a high standard of deliverable
- Be a senior voice in the technical team, mentoring and training colleagues and helping to raise the skill level of your juniors
- Staying on the cutting edge of new developments in search and pushing the agency forward in the services it can deliver
- Plan and lead your team in conducting advanced and detailed keyword research and categorisations that will form the backbone of project reporting
- Autonomously run crawls of websites, analyse them and produce detailed technical audits for clients
- Be able to prioritise technical recommendations based on the monetary impact they will have, creating business cases to prioritise development
- Perform real life walk-throughs and audits of client websites assessing them against important SEO KPIs
- Lead website migrations from beginning to end, including pre and post website analysis, mapping, creating rules and post migration auditing
- Take ownership for the project management and delivery of key SEO projects. This may include acting as the client lead for some clients.
- Liaise with clients regularly (responding to briefs, scheduling meetings, status reporting, information seeking, managing milestones and approvals)
- Monitor SEO project performance, timelines and budgets and report on these regularly to the account manager/ director and the client
- Work collaboratively with cross channel teams to ensure the best result for your client(s)
- Lead in-depth competitor analyses - particularly against more technical elements of websites and the SERP landscape
- Produce accurate, detailed technical SEO reports, using a variety of proprietary and 3rd party reporting tools for existing and potential customers and be involved in discussing these with stakeholders
- Coordinate with internal project teams and third-party suppliers
- Carry out technical changes to clients’ websites as required
- Use a variety of analytical tools to assess competitor activity and profiles, establish client share of voice and spot opportunities for growth
- Regularly monitor client websites, SERPs and analytics tools and feedback on significant changes
- Proactively seek training and continuing professional development to stay up to date with developments, algorithm updates and process changes
Skills and Experience
Essential
- 3-5+ years experience in SEO in a digital marketing environment with at least 1 in a junior manager role
- Hands-on Technical SEO experience dealing with complex issues such as site structural changes, hreflang, page speed, JavaScript rendering, and semantic markup
- Ability to manage complex SEO projects working in conjunction with 3rd party developers and clients
- Detailed understanding of technical SEO best practices, including HTML meta tags, URL structure, hreflang, and schema.org markup for desktop and mobile search
- Strong knowledge of robots control and site indexing principles, including robots.txt, meta robots tags, canonical tag, and XML sitemaps
- Ability to use a wide range of SEO tools based on client needs
- Detailed understanding of the holistic SEO customer cycle and the ability to advise clients on when they need a Content or Digital PR specialist
- Appreciation of UX best practice principles and how these should align with SEO recommendations
- Awareness of and active integration with other marketing activities, including online and offline
- Ability to use data to support SEO decisions and report back on the successes of various campaigns
- Strong client management skills with the ability to discuss complex technical elements with stakeholders to help them understand the importance to the business
- Strong problem-solving/troubleshooting skills
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to use common analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Core Metrics, etc
- Experience in website migrations
- Experience implementing complex organic search marketing strategies
- Solid understanding of parameter handling, pagination, filtering and duplicate content solutions
- Broad digital marketing knowledge
- Experience with KPI definition and forecasting
- Mentor junior members of the team and take an active role in training and development
- Ability to manage the career progression of direct reports
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Up-to-date knowledge of key search algorithms and Google best practice guidelines
- Strong HTML / CSS / JavaScript knowledge
- Experience of using G-Suite
