Today, thanks to a captive user base, Alkemics is in a strong position to “platformize” (i.e. marketplace) the notoriously difficult retail space. Brands are keen to have their products discovered in a more efficient and elegant way. Retailers are interested in negotiating products more quickly. Brands want to better control the product introduction in each store.

At Alkemics, every day is different, but your main missions will include:

• Manage and grow team members, oversee the development and maintenance of team skills
• Facilitate 360 feedback from other team member (tech, business, support, product, etc…)
• Contribute to shaping the future of the engineering organisation
• Promote and enforce best engineering practices
• Follow up on individuals and team on continuous improvements
• Anticipate and propose needed technical and architectural changes to ensure the implementation of upcoming features
• Design solutions as a team, taking into account iteration, scalability, debt creation, development costs
• Implement solutions that are scalable and reliable using cutting edge technologies:
• python, scala or golang for backend
• javascript with ReactJS + Redux for frontend
• mysql couchbase, elasticsearch, as data storage

• 7+ years of XP working in a strong engineering environment
• XP in managing Engineers
• XP with Agile methodologies
• A broad knowledge and a genuine curiosity about software development
• A deep capacity to get things done
• A passion for software craftsmanship
• Experience designing scalable systems following architecture best practices
• Excellent Communication skills
• Fluency in English and French
