Job description

The scope of this position is the entire vertical/marketplace which includes all our products and teams under the Milanuncios brand.

As Milanuncios Engineering Director, your mission will be to shape and implement both the marketplace and the Tech & Data strategy in order to reach both short and long-term business goals, while developing a high-performing engineering organization that continuously delivers value in the most effective, fast and secure way.

You will be leading the entire technology organization ensuring alignment and support to other areas such as Product, UX, Data, Marketing, Sales and Business Development.  

Description:

  • You will be leading the entire Generalist Tech organization that consists of more than 40 people divided in 6 teams and 3 clusters with 3 dedicated Engineering Managers and 4 Senior Engineers, with 1 additional team to be hired in 2022. 

  • You will be part of a matrix organization being a member of the Marketplace leadership team (having as peers other functional leaders such as the Product Director, the Sales Director and the Marketing Director) and the Tech & Data leadership team (having as peers other Engineering Directors) at the same time.

  • You will co-develop both the Adevinta Spain Tech & Data strategy and the Generalist vertical business strategy.

  • You will be a key contributor to PEAK, our way of working in Adevinta Spain, by acting as a Servant Leader in weekly check-ins, steering the quarterly OKRs with your peers in the Marketplace, actively developing the organization to have more self-sufficient PEAK Squads and fostering our feedback culture based on Radical Candor.

  • You will ensure that the marketplace keeps a healthy balance between short-term delivery and long-term sustainability aligned with the product (i.e. keep technical debt under control, ensuring that PEAK Squads react on health metrics, promoting required investments, anticipating business or industry challenges, etc).

  • You will promote our agile development framework inside the organization with the support of your Engineering Managers and the guidance of our Agile Coaches.

  • You will be responsible for the Tech budget (OPEX, CAPEX, Salaries and Headcount) of your marketplace.

  • You will also be responsible for balancing missions, areas of responsibility, people and skills among squads. Although you will be the final decision maker, you will need to align such changes with the different PEAK Streams as much as possible.

Preferred experience

Basic qualifications:

  • Leadership: influencer, change driver, people & org developer, strategic & systemic thinker.
  • Strong business acumen and drive to deliver results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
  • Agile frameworks, lean startup, scrum, kanban and OKR.
  • Technical skills: Be familiar with the concepts of Accelerate metrics and capabilities, team topologies, testing, AWS, distributed systems, SOLID, microservices architecture, kafka, ios, android, data modeling and shift left security. 
  • Passionate about technology and up to date with the industry state-of-the-art and trends.
  • Fluent in English and/or Spanish (or willing to learn both of them)

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a similar position for a tech company.
  • Experience working on products heavily using Machine Learning
  • Ability to represent the company in forums to promote corporate image as a market leader.
