Dev & Data

The Dev & Data team is composed of data scientists and developers who are in charge of setting up the back-end, front-end (web, mobile), and the processing chain of SOWIT satellite image treatment.

The team has built an efficient and modular IT infrastructure that allows SOWIT to better serve clients, while consolidating its data assets to permit the R&D Agronomy team to conduct tests aimed at developing new solutions.

Located mainly at Station F, the AI, DeepTech, and Dev teams are dedicated to accelerating the development of SOWIT products and African agriculture.

From exploration to production, without losing sight of reality in the field and maintaining our good spirits was an exciting challenge to tackle!

Agronomy

The Agro team is at the center of value creation, both upstream on the product adaptation aspects, and downstream on the popularization aspects of precision farming solutions to the public.

The Agro Team challenges SOWIT products to the daily realities of the field and highly relies on SOWERS present on the ground in more than 15 African countries. The SOWERS are considered as the backbone of SOWIT’s data warehouse, as they collect data daily to enable the R&D team to make the most out of the data and give it meaning.

Nothing comes as is and nothing is given. Everything is built.

R&D

The R&D team implements new developments based on an in-depth understanding of the state of art and of SOWIT’s active data and expertise. The team ensures collaborations with external research centers, such as the CIRAD in Montpellier or INRA in Morocco. Rooted in science and driven by the desire to push industry boundaries, the R&D team develops prototypes with deployment potential that meet SOWIT ambitions: to become a one-stop shop for African agricultural data. Based in Montpellier, the team collaborates daily with agronomists, present in the field, and in charge of executing protocols.
