During their mission, surgeons often have to work with the most basic technical equipment and under difficult circumstances. Wide practical experience is therefore necessary. The on-location work of surgeons ranges from emergency surgery and triage to general surgery and performing Caesarean sections.

JOB TASKS

• Treatment of victims of armed conflict, violence, natural disasters and accidents
• Handling bone fractures and treating wounds caused by bullets, grenade splinters or mines
• Carrying out amputations
• Paediatric surgery
• Post-operative follow-up
• Establishing of diagnosis with little technical equipment
• Doing triage in case of mass casualties

• Working contract for the duration of the assignment with a monthly gross salary of 1,300 EUR

• Professional experience, as diverse as possible (for specialists of general surgery: ability to carry out caesarean, experience with paediatric surgery)
• Availability for a mission of up to 3 months
• Very good knowledge of English is essential, other languages (in particular French) are a major advantage

1. Before you can submit your application, you are obliged to attend an official Information session where you will learn more about the organization and its work and speak with experienced field personnel regarding the roles in the field.
