The Role

DNA Script is actively searching for a Lead Developer to oversee the development of our Data Science platform to help the company explore its vast data sets. This involves implement user interface and systems for data capture, analysis and visualization of a large array of scientific data.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop system that enable simple and intuitive means to capture, analyze and visualization information and data.
• Promote and advocate development and best practices to the Data Science group and company.
• Work closely with the R&D, Manufacturing and QC divisions to understand their workflow and processes.
• Ensure that data captured across the different labs are fit for use by the Data Science group and other stakeholders.
• Constantly improve the quality of code and infrastructure.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree, or a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Software engineering or related field
• 3+ years of experience in software development
• Experience working with web development frameworks (Node.JS, Rails or similar)
• Experience with relational databases (such as PostgreSQL or Oracle)
• Experience integrating with third party solutions via web service APIs.
• Experience with Github other 3rd party development tools and utilities.
• Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to solve complex problems.
• Self-motivated, self-starting, an attention to detail and a great team player.
• A team-first mentality. You prefer to pursue high performance via collaboration, open communication, shared goals, and by fostering accountability and trust.
• Proficient in English

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Strong desire to tackle large and complex problems
• Experience working with large scale data
• Ideally experience working with large scale data management tools like Apache Spark, AWS RedShift, Elasticsearch or similar.
• Ideally background in biological sciences, DNA applications, either from education or work experience.
