AWS People Experience and Technology (AWS PXT) is focused on accelerating and de-risking the trajectory of the AWS business globally.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Principal Program Manager (PM) will act as a Chief of Staff to the Director of PXT (HR) for EMEA. This role requires strong leadership and collaboration across teams, as well as Amazon wide projects and HR initiatives. We are looking for an well rounded professional who has the ability to diagnose issues, see patterns of problems as they dive deep and recommend immediate and long term programmatic solutions. You must be able to collaborate across groups, influence all levels of the organization, and roll up your sleeves and engage on a hands on basis. You will be able to balance competing priorities and conflicting opinions, and facilitate the best decisions for employees and the business in an environment of ambiguity and rapid change.
You will need business acumen, excellent communication skills, influencing skills, strategic thinking and planning/project management skills, as well as the ability to thrive in a fast paced, rigorous environment.
This position requires superior analytical strength, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to synthesize moving parts of the business to drive the business forward. The role demands a strong sense of urgency, the ability to influence and make sound judgement calls. The individual will need to effectively work with the EMEA Leader, their direct reports, global partners, AWS business ops/finance and our central programs team. The right candidate for the role will possess a strong program management background, and must be able to thrive and succeed in an ever changing environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.
This role is posted in London and Dublin but can be conducted from other AWS EMEA country, including virtual locations.
Key job responsibilities
• Partner with the Director and their leadership team to develop an engaging, motivating vision and operating tenets for the broader organization
• Develop and execute work-backwards plans to ensure key strategic deliverables such as OP1 content and Annual Operating Plans are completed on time to high quality standards
• Partner with the wider AWS PXT organization to implement mechanism to set, manage and track goals, and ensure accountability for results
• Ensure timely and quality completion of key inspection deliverables including Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews (MBR/QBRs)
• Use strong analytical skills to tell the story around the operational metrics and supporting data and provide actionable insights to raise the bar on organizational performance and drive path-to-green plans as needed
• Partner with the Program Managers in peer organizations (especially across PXT) to ensure tight alignment, facilitate the sharing (and proliferation) of information of best-known practices, and drive synchronization and collaboration in connection with shared goals and deliverables
• Communicate across global stakeholders at all levels and be able to know the business well enough (with the data to back it up) to represent the Director at senior leadership team meetings, and also deputize when required
• Ensure that key actions assigned by PXT or business leadership to the EMEA organization are immediately delegated to the appropriate owners, and track to ensure timely and quality completion
• Own cadence, agendas and content of EMEA PXT leadership team meetings, and set quality standards for materials presented, and coach people on how best to use their allotted time
• Partner with Executive Assistants to support calendar management for senior leadership team
• Establish and own execution of mechanisms to facilitate the bi-directional communication between the Director and their organization
