AFP, one of the world’s leading news agencies, is looking for dynamic and highly motivated English-language reporters to join its editorial team in Sydney.

We are seeking journalists capable of producing fast, accurate and vivid copy in formats ranging from breaking news to reportages, features and in-depth angles, telling the story of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific to a global audience.

Working closely with colleagues in text, photo, video and factchecking, you will cover a broad range of stories from the climate crisis, drought and bush fires to political dramas, the pandemic, business, economics and top sports-related developments.

• Proven professional experience in written journalism, showing a flair for quick, accurate, lively copy and an eye for a good story.
• Sound knowledge of Australian politics, culture, sports and economy.
• Comfortable using and monitoring social media.
• Team player, able to work with colleagues in text, photo, video and our digital verification journalists.
• Ready to work on flexible hours when needed, including weekends.
• These skills are not essential but would be an advantage: sports coverage; experience in wire agency reporting; video reporting/editing skills; French and/or other languages.

This is a full-time job open to Australian citizens and residents with work visas. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a test and interview.
