At the beginning of his career, Alex went through the AB InBev internal Leadership program. Within a year, he gained a tremendous amount of experience and tried working in different teams and on several projects. It was a great challenge to participate in the program for him. For the first time, he stood on his own two feet, moved to a foreign country and didn’t want to let anyone down. Now he leads a small team that takes care of warehouses across Europe.
In his spare time, Alex plays football, tennis, and squash. He took advantage of the fact that he lives in a country where mountains are a stone’s throw away, and he started learning how to ski. Working in an international environment motivated him to start learning another foreign language – Spanish.
Alexandra joined AB InBev fresh from the university. Despite having no experience in logistics, she didn’t lack great enthusiasm and passion for learning new things. Today, 10 years and 6 positions later, she is Head of the Logistics Department for Western Europe. Alexandra and her team make sure that the customers have the opportunity to enjoy the AB InBev products whenever they feel like it. A lot of hard work is behind this. The logistics employees manage to load 1,200 trucks every day, imagine that!
Alexandra’s week is very active from beginning to end. In summer, she goes for a run after work, and in winter, she plays badminton or has a gym session. On Saturday mornings, she usually packs her bags and heads out into the mountains to fill up on energy for the coming week.
Johanne joined AB InBev in 2018. Joan was a fresh graduate, but she got the opportunity to gather new experiences in Luxembourg just two months after she had started. She was a part of an interesting project and still remembers how great it was since others trusted her, and her word meant something. Now, she manages company pubs in Benelux. She makes sure that the rents, taxes, and utilities are paid and that the businesses have all the equipment they need.
Johanne comes from France, and so it’s no surprise that she loves cooking, wine, and top-shelf cheese. She likes to try new things, and not only in the kitchen. She spends weekends with friends, travels, and explores various places in the Czech Republic and abroad.
When Joost was looking for an internship abroad after he finished university, he came across AB InBev. He liked the fact that it is a large company and decided to give it a try for a year. And after four years, he is still there! He quickly worked his way to the position of a Team Leader. His task is to lead a team of eight people responsible for timely reimbursement of invoices to suppliers. Just starts each day with a stand-up meeting with his team. And this only the first one in his daily marathon. Next is the meeting with the project team, where he tries to work out how to improve the existing processes, followed by one to one sessions with the team members. Sometimes, he even meets with suppliers.
Joost likes sports. He played basketball when he was younger, and now he goes playing squash with his colleagues and to the gym. Thanks to the Multisport card, he had the opportunity to try new things such as golf or wall climbing.
The brewing heritage of AB InBev dates back more than 600 years, spanning continents and generations. From the European roots at the Den Hoorn brewery in Belgium. To the pioneering spirit of the Anheuser & Co brewery in St. Louis, US. To the founding of the Castle Brewery in South Africa during the Johannesburg gold rush. To Bohemia and the first brewery in Brazil. The company produces over 500 brands of beers including world-famous household names such as Stella Artois, Corona, Leffe, Beck’s and Hoegaarden. One of their main offices is located in Prague, where AB InBev provides the best services possible to the breweries and customers all over Europe.
The employees of AB InBev are far from being sticklers for formalities; the atmosphere in the company is very relaxed. The offices form a small universe of its own: you can meet people from all over the world as the employees come from around 46 different countries and connect 61 nationalities. Furthermore, employees speak over 20 different languages. The company holds an open bar event every two weeks where people meet with their colleagues, grab a beer together, play some table football and tennis, and prepare snacks and finger food for each other. Everybody is very close and people often spend even their free time together. And when it comes to work, everybody works as a team.
Helping to make the world a better place is part of AB InBev DNA. That is why they have set themselves ambitious sustainability goals to reach by 2025. These span climate change, circular packaging, water stewardship and smart agriculture. By 2025, their goals are:
- 100% of purchased electricity will be from renewable sources
- 25% reduction in CO2 emissions across their value chain
- 100% of their communities in high-stress areas will have measurably improved water availability and quality.
- 100% of their product will be in packaging that is returnable or made from majority recycled content.
- 100% of their direct farmers will be skilled, connected, and financially empowered.
