At Bridge Base Online we are growing very fast. With operations in Europe and North America, Bridge Base Online (bridgebase.com) is the largest bridge club in the world. At any time of the day, thousands of players enjoy casual bridge with friends, practice their skills against robots, or play in serious competition.
We are looking for a seasoned UI+UX designer who can help us take our players’ experience to the next level. This is a key role since it involves improving the gaming experience of our community (60+) without disrupting their habits and their attachment to a product they have used for many years.
We are looking for someone who is aware of the current issues and environments and who complements them by surveying the market and the users. No design revolution but adapted, usable proposals that make the game more enjoyable and functional.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Create user-centered designs by considering the complexity of an older audience resistant to change and taking into account the history and technical constraints of an historical product
• Create user flows, wireframes, design mockups, and prototypes to effectively conceptualize product initiatives
• Establish and maintain detailed user-interface patterns and specifications
• Working closely with developers to see your design through to deployment
• Simplify and distill complex processes into intuitive UI
• Plan and estimate time efforts and work with the team
• This role requires that you are a self-starter with the ability to deliver on time with quality

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in UX, Interaction Design or related discipline
• 3+ years design experience in UX and UI; background in online gaming a plus
• Focus on continuously adding value to the user experience (“User obsessed”)
• Able to consider the technical implications of design decisions, finding the right balance between added user value and technical effort/cost
• Knowledgeable about usability best practices
• Have a high-quality bar for the aesthetics in your design (Simplicity is your motto!)
• Thrive as an independent thinker, and can manage the design process from end to end
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with a a remote team
• Ability to create wireframes, hi-fidelity visual designs, and interactive mocks
• Fluency in English
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability
• Awareness and practice of code performance best practices
• Excellent autonomous problem-solving ability
• Work efficiently in an environment where not everything is organized and structured

Bonus Points

• Industry experience with real-time card game platforms
• Knowledgeable about Agile methodologies; seasoned JIRA and Confluence user a plus
• Enjoys trick-taking card games; bridge player a plus!
• Fluency in French
• Data-driven UX/UI improvement strategies
• Understanding of HTML5, JS, CSS

Reports To
You will report to the Front-end Development Manager.
Position
This is a remote, full-time position (contract). Preference for candidates living in time zones GMT−4 to GMT+2.
