The position

Job description

We are seeking a Manager for our Relationship Management Team within the South Africa Desk at Swissquote Switzerland. Reporting to the Head of Business Development South Africa, this role oversees a team of Relationship Managers and Assistants and is responsible for driving revenue growth while building and maintaining long-term relationships with institutional clients, including asset managers, trustees, banks, and brokers. 

Key responsibilities

Operations management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored financial solutions. 
  • Implement, monitor and analyze performance data to identify improvement opportunities. 
  • Collaborate with various internal departments to ensure relationship management and sales objectives align with broader business goals. 
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities. 

Team Management:

  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Lead, support, and inspire your team of Relationship Managers and Assistants. 
    • Foster a positive, motivating work environment where employees feel valued and connected to the team and organization. 
    • Promote collaboration, trust and cohesion among team members. 
    • Escalate potential conflicts to senior management and/or your HR Partner as needed. 
    • Support employee development through training, mentoring, coaching, and career advancement opportunities. 
  • Hiring & Onboarding
    • Lead the recruitment process in collaboration with your Talent Acquisition Partner. 
    • Ensure new hires receive a comprehensive introduction to the team, the organization, its culture, policies, and their specific responsibilities. 
  • Performance Management
    • Set clear performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, conduct performance reviews, and address performance issues proactively. 
    • Manage underperformance processes in alignment with senior management and your HR Partner. 

Preferred experience

  • 8+ years of experience in relationship management and sales, ideally within the financial services industry. 
  • Strong leadership capabilities with proven experience motivating and guiding teams of Relationship Managers and Assistants. 
  • Solid understanding of financial products and services, relationship management, institutional sales processes and deep knowledge of industry trends and regulations. 
  • Experience working with or within the South African financial sector. 
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. 
  • Fluency in English and German is essential.
